No more place for breakfast in bed!.....Featherbed that is Print E-mail

If you’re still hoping to enjoy the hearty Cruise Cafe breakfast that’s coupled with running the Salomon Featherbed Trail Run, 13 km Coelacanth Route, during the 2009 Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival, your only chance now is to get your details urgently onto the waiting list.

The reason; the Coelacanth AM/Breakfast Run is now full. There are however still very limited places available for the shorter 7km Seahorse Route in the morning or alternatively enter the original PM/Supper Run, taking place the same day, which  also includes a choice of routes. The afternoon’s Coelacanth (13 km) and Seahorse (7km) routes offer an equally enticing Cruise Cafe Dinner on your return to the finish line. The double running of the Salomon Featherbed Trail Run is happening on Tuesday 7th July and is filling fast – don’t delay or you will miss the boat!
“It’s been a bit of a bun fight,” admits Amanda Judson who manages the entries for event organisers Magnetic South. “We would so like to help everyone;” she goes on. “Especially trail runners, to us they’re kindred spirits.” “But we can only fit so many people on the ferries and the only chance to secure a place on the boats is to enter now and ensure your name is on the lists!!”
The Salomon Featherbed Trail Run offers trail runners this once a year opportunity to run the craggy forested trails of the Western Heads and  running in the “out of bounds Featherbed Nature Reserve” is the best part of the attraction. This event has gained cult status amongst trail runners due to its unique atmosphere - an atmosphere that is distinctly Knysna.  Runners are transported across the lagoon to the event start, from registration at the Cruise Cafe, by ferry. The run route itself traverses a variety of landscapes ranging from forested trails, open fynbos and rocky cliff breaks to semi urban abandoned railway lines, each type of trail challenging the trail runner in a different way. The Ferry trip is an exceptional experience on its own - the vibe created on board is electric as all the excited Trail Runners eagerley anticipate their challenge ahead whilst crossing the tranquil lagoon waters.

Participants finding the going tough out there on the trail can certainly hold onto the comforting thought that a warm embrace, hot coffee (or a cold beer) and scrumptious meal, from one of Knysna’s finest restaurants, awaits them at the finish line.
