Event Highlights

By all accounts this year's Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival is going to be a record-breaker! Six weeks after online entries opened, the Pick n Pay Cape Times Knysna Half Marathon is full. The good news is that there are still entries available for the Big 5, of which the Forest Half Marathon is one of the events. So, if you are keen to do the Half Marathon and you don't have a number, go to www.oysterfestival.co.za and register now.

A great new addition to this year's programme is the Salomon Featherbed Trail Run Supper Run. The route follows the Breakfast and Lunch Run routes (across the Knysna Lagoon on the ferry to the start, around the Western Head and back across the railway bridge to finish at Cruise Café) but the night event has the added challenge of running in the dark! To enter, go to www.magneticsouth.co.za.

New Venue!

This year the Oyster Festival has a new venue in Knysna, due to the fact that the traditional venue at Loerie Park has been booked by the Danish football team, which will be using the Loerie Park field for practice sessions.

The festival hub has moved to Waterfront Drive and will be known as the Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival Grounds. The Heineken® Pavilion will be erected here and this is where the start and finish of the Pick n Pay Weekend Argus Rotary Knysna Cycle Tours will take place.

The Heineken® Pavilion is also the venue for the Pick n Pay Oyster & Wine Mardi Gras in association with SACA and sponsored by Tabasco, on Wednesday 7 July, and the Official Heineken ® Afterparty on Saturday 10 July at which the Parlotones and Flat Stanley will be playing!

Bring the Kids!

If you've got kids, bring them to the festival and leave them to be entertained and supervised at the Pick n Pay Young Oyster Festival while you enjoy the adult activities. The programme will run from 3-10 July at the Squash Club at the Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival Grounds in Waterfront Drive. Fun supervised activities for kids aged 3-9 will include cooking classes, creative art, craft classes, face painting, sand art and interactive entertainment. There'll also be some activities for children aged 10-15. Visit www.oysterfestival.co.za for full programme details.

Don't forget to book your accommodation in Knysna for the Oyster Festival 2 - 11 July. See the specials on our website at www.oysterfestival.co.za!
