The SPUR Children’s Cycle Tour forms part of the annual Knysna Cycle Tour. The event is all about fitness and fun, a great way to entertain the kids and family. There are three age categories from which to choose (aged 2 – 10 years). The SPUR Children’s Cycle Tour is a fun day and also includes:
- Medals and goodie bags for every participant
- A SPUR village
- Face Painters
- Prizes for: Best dressed child, Best dressed parent and Best dressed ride!
This is a fun ride – there are no winners or prizes for first place. Every child who completes their ride is a winner.
The routes and distances are as follows:
- 2-4 years – 400 m:
A circular loop on the field. The ride is open to anything on wheels including; prams, pushbikes, tricycles, small bicycles with training wheels and scooters. Helmets are recommended. All accompanying adults to be on foot.
- 5-7 years – 1,5 km:
From the field – Hedge Street – Waterfront Drive – old railway line – past station – turn at turntable – back to Hedge Street – onto field – finish.
This ride is small bicycle friendly, helmet compulsory.
- 8-10 years – 2,5 km:
As per the 1,5 km race, but riders will continue on railway track to Long Street, turn into Waterfront, back to field. This ride is small bicycle friendly, helmet compulsory.

All children are encouraged to dress up and decorate their ride (accompanying adults are welcome to dress up too!). Parents / guardians should come prepared and wear flat, comfortable running shoes.
